| Application of standardized nursing assessment in radiotherapy injury of head and neck cancer |

Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of standardized nursing assessment on toxic and side effects of radiotherapy in head and neck cancer patients. Methods One hundred and forty-four patients with malignant tumor who underwent head and neck radiotherapy in our oncology department from January 2016 to January 2018 were randomly divided into observation group (72 cases) and control group (72 cases). Predictive care based on standardized nursing assessment was applied to patients in the observation group. Routine care was given in the control group. The adverse reactions of radiation injury were compared between the observation group and the control group. Results The incidence of radioactive stomatitis, radioactive dermatitis, difficulty in opening mouth, radioactive esophagitis and radioactive snuff mucositis in the observation group used standardized nursing assessment was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Giving the corresponding predictive care based on standardized nursing assessment during the radiotherapy can significantly reduced the adverse effect of radiotherapy in patients with head and neck cancer.
