Abstract Objective To observe the peroxidation of rat hippocampus after acute or chronic microwave irradiation and research the protective effects of micronutrient intervention. Methods by microwave at 15 W/cm2 for 20min everyday for 8 weeks continuously. The peroxidation damage of hippocampus by microwave and the protective effect of micronutrient intervention were detected by measuring SOD、MDA、GSH-PX and ROS.Results The acute and chronic microwave irradiation could induce the down-regulating SOD activity, GSH-Px activity, ROS inhibition (P<0.05) and up-regulate the content of MDA obviously (P<0.05).After micronutrient intervention, SOD and GSH-Px activity increased (P<0.05), the content of MDA reduced (P<0.05), ROS inhibition resumed (P<0.05).Conclusion The acute and chronic microwave irradiation can induce the oxidative of rat hippocampus.Micronutrient intervention has protective effect on the peroxidation damage induced by microwave irradiation.
