Abstract Objective To study the effects of Kuan Jin Teng on hematopoietic function in radiation-injured mice.Methods In this experiment, 50 mice were randomly divided into five groups of normal control, irradiation (IR), high dosage, medium dosage and low dosage.The last three groups were given medicines after they were irradiated by 60Coγ.The others were given physiological brine.Peripheral blood routine were measured at 4h before irradiation, the 7th and 14th after irradiation.DNA content and quantity of nucleocyte in bone marrow, CFU-s in spleen were observed at the 14th day after irradiation.Results The results showed the protective action of Kuan Jin Teng on peripheral blood routine, DNA content and quantity of nucleocyte in bone marrow of radiation-damaged mice is obvious.There was significant difference between the irradiation and experimental groups (P<0.05).Conclusion Kuan Jin Teng can improve the quantities of peripheral blood routine and promote the recovery of the cells of building blood in bone marrow and it is effective in anti-irradiation.
