Abstract Objective To study the effect of inhibition on the growth of ovarian carcinoma cells by introduction of foreign IL-21 gene. Methods The recombinant IL-21 gene adenovirus vector was transfected into ovarian carcinoma cell line ES-2.The cells growth curve and cells cycle of ES-2 cells were detected by MTT assay and flow cytometry respectively. Results The growth of ES-2 cells transfected with Ad-IL-21 was slower than that of Ad-lacZ and blank control, especially at 3ird day after transfection(P<0.05).Compared with Ad-lacZ and blank control, cell growth at 5th day after infection was inhibited significantly(P<0.05).Cells of G1 phases transfected with Ad-IL-21 increased, cells of G2 and S phases decreased. Conclusion The recombinant IL-21 gene adenovirus vector can transfect ES-2 cells efficiently and inhibit ES-2 cell growth.
