Abstract Objective To obtain chitosan(CTS)-ehylene diamine tetraacetic acid(EDTA) compound(CTS-EDTA compound),and compare the chelating ability to Sr2+ of CTS and CTS-EDTA.Methods To synthesize CTS-EDTA compound by N-acylation reaction,and use atomic absorption spectrometry to measure the Sr2+ concentration changes in the SrCl2 solution with CTS and CTS-EDTA respectively.Results FTIR and 1H-NMR spectrum showed that CTS-EDTA compound was made successfully,and CTS-EDTA's chelating efficiency to Sr2+ was over 80% in 10min,but CTS was almost the same as Control.Conclusion CTS-EDTA's chelating ability to Sr2+ was obiviously better than CTS.
