Abstract Objective To be familiar with the procedure of NEMA by testing Discovery 690 models of PET scanner, process the measurement method, compare the difference between the new and the old model, master and promote the PET scanner performance test method, as to do a better job in quality assurance. Methods According to the NEMA standard and the manufacturer's index, the space resolution, sensitivity, scatter fraction, count loss and randoms measurement test are required. Results For Spatial resolution, the transvers direction results for 1cm from the centeris 4.55 mm, the axial direction is 4.99 mm; the transvers direction results for 10cm from the center is the 5.04 mm and the axial direction is 5.24 mm. Sensitivity test results for 0 location is 6.873 cps/kBq and 6.976 cps/kBq at 10cm location. The result of scatter fraction is 36.42%. Counting loss and random coincidence measurement results are 1.28×105 cps. Conclusion Compared to old models,Discovery 690 model have made a great improvement for the operating process, made it much simpler and reasonable, and reduce the operation difficulty of the NEMA test, and finally can easilybe popularized at quality control work.
