Abstract Objective The radiological impacts on the public individuals from the building materials fabricated by lime-ash of bone-coal were evaluated for a project of bone-coal comprehension utilizations in China.Methods The activity concentrations of natural radionuclides in the fabricated building materials by lime-ash of bone coal, and the potential exposure, the radiation risk for the public individuals living in the room were analyzed.Results It was shown that the dose and risk on the public would be increased obviously, including the external radiation from gamma rays and internal radiation from radon.Conclusion Suggestions were given for the comprehension utilization of the line-ash of bone-coal to meet the requirements of national standard on the limitations of radionuclides in building materials, and the requirements of radiation protection for public individual.
