Abstract The phenomenon that the ozone layer cavity causes the enhancement of surface ultraviolet radiation has attracted wide attention. Cataract is one of the main diseases leading to blindness, which seriously affects people's quality of life. At present, UV exposure assessment studies include three levels:environmental radiation, individual exposure and ocular exposure. Epidemiological study focus on the relationship between the incidence of cataract and environmental ultraviolet radiation rather than ocular ultraviolet exposure. This paper will make a brief review on the UV exposure assessment methods and UV-induced cataract epidemiological investigations in these two aspects.
