Abstract Objective To understand the recent progress of the application of Cone beam computed tomography(CBCT) in medical practice. Methods This article adopts a inductive and analytical method according to CBCT medical application range through literature review. Results This article provides performance comparisons between the CBCT and MDCT scanners and classifications for CBCT in use of medicine and evaluation of dose ranges for patients in the CBCT scanning. Finally, this article gives some problems on radiological protection in CBCT application of our country. Conclusion The use of CBCT spans has a wide range of clinical specialties and a large range for patient dose in our country.Authors provide a suggestion on making national radiological protection action plant in appropriate use of CBCT.
