Abstract Sialolithiasis is a group of diseases which refers to the sialiths of parotid gland, submandibular gland, sublingual gland and minor salivary glands meanwhile bring about Salivary gland inflammation due to the block of salivation. The most common incidence site is submandibular gland. This paper elucidates anatomical features of submandibular gland, formation mechanism,the clinical features and various examination methods as well as results of sialiths. Designed to improve understanding and supply useful iconography information for the formulation of therapy plans.
