Abstract Objective Using narrow X-γ ray shooting model to analyse backscatter dose distribution. Methods Simulate the backscatter dose distribution in multiple condition by Compton scattering model and monte carlo program MCNP4C. Results The minimum value of backscatter dose is close to ±90°, the maximum value appeared in somewhere close to 0°, and with the increase of radiation energy the value tends to 0°. Conclusion People should be on the vertical beam direction for evacuation or hiding in X-γ ray defect detecting on-the-spot.
