Abstract Objective To understand the applicability in pulse radiation field of the instrument which is used for measuring stability of natural radiation field and study of pulse radiation field measurement method. Methods To deduce the problems in the pulse radiation field of a dose rate meter by its measurement principle, the measurement results of the common type detector in the pulse field are given. Results When the instrument which is used for measuring stability of natural radiation field measures pulse transient field, the measurement data are usually low. Conclusion The actual monitoring must be base on strengthening the dose monitoring. It is necessary to develop a device to measure the dose rate of the pulse radiation field in order to guarantee the rationality and reliability of the data.
