Abstract Wistar rats were cold-adapted under the temperatures of -1~5℃ for 14 days before irradiated 4.5 Gy by 60Co γ rays. They were the cold irradiating group. The blood drained from their angular arteriae was tested for MN rates and 8 items of WBC, LYa、LYp、RBC, etc.The groups of room temperature, room temperatureir radiation and cold-adapation were controls. The rseules showed WBC, LYa, PLT and Hb of cold-adaption irradiation group declincd less and asecnded more rapidly than that of room temperature-irradiation group. The WBC counts in cold-irradiation group were as double times as that in room temperature group at the twenty-eighth day after irradiation, MN rate of the former was lower than that of the latter, The above prompted cold adapting rats increased resistance against irradiation and there would be the possibility to protection normal tissues by cold when patients were treated in radiotherapy.
